Cory Machado Interviews Co-CEO of CBDmd Scott Coffman

What is your mindset everyday regarding business/ success?

I walk through the door of my business prepared to address things that will go wrong that day and prepared to come up with solutions. I also have an open door policy that my people know they can bring me any problems with the business because I want to know all problems as soon as they appear. Its my job to keep a positive attitude about our future so all our people believe in what we are doing. I believe in the principal of Decentralized Management where my managers have the power to make decisions. Will be successful if myself and all my managers work to make their people in our company successful at their jobs.

What are your daily habits that make you successful?

I’m a grinder so I like working. I also work with a sense of urgency that keeps me focus on following thru and working through project to be 100% completion. I don’t like have a lot of projects that stay at 70 or 80% completed but are not taken to the finish line.  I am always communicating to my staff the importance of attention to detail. The difference between success and failure is the companies who pay attention to all the details.

Favorite sports team ?

I’m in Carolina so it’s the Panthers in football. But I always like the Browns so I continue to cheer for them. Basketball it basically follow the players so I was Lakers fan most of my life but still loved the Bulls when they had Jordan.

Hobbies?

Collected coins when I was younger but not any hobbies today.

When you were a kid what did you want to be?

Was going to be a Dentist until I got to college and took Organic Chemistry.

What are your thoughts on money & investing?

Being a lifelong Entrepreneur I am always taking risk with my money in new business that  I am starting so I am very conservative in the Stock Market.

What’s the best advice you have been given?

Don’t dwell on your failures you can fail 10 times in a row the only thing to focus on is your success.

How do you deal with criticism and how do you overcome obstacles?

Criticism comes with being an Entrepreneur, you just have to decide early on that you can’t let that bother you. I have a belief that I can always find a solution to whatever obstacle is put in front of me, doesn’t always work but I never change my belief.
